First Day of School, 2019 – Take 2

Today we tried to take Elliot to school, again. But we still had to get his vaccine issue worked out. We ended up spending most of the school day hunting down the show he needed and by the time the day was over, he was all set for tomorrow!

CRP Award

This afternoon we attended the Success Assembly at Elliot’s school, to celebrate student successes in the second trimester. Elliot won the CRP award, basically for being a good and doing a good job.

Elliot turns 12!

This year for Elliot’s birthday we went to dinner at Jason’s Deli and then went sledding with the Reagens. We had his traditional family party on Sunday and these are some of his favorite things to do.

This year is Elliot’s first year in a traditional school. His adjustment has been great and he is going well. Most days he is up around 7:40 and has to catch the bus at 8:30. A couple of days a week he is up at 6:40 so he can go to band practices before school. On school days he gets home at 4:30 and can often be found doing homework or playing tag with Lucia and Rose after school. He likes to make smoothies for snacks. His evenings usually include soccer and then he is in bed by 10. On the weekends he likes to sleep in a little, play on the Xbox, and play outside.

Elliot’s Birthday Party

This year we celebrated Elliot’s birthday a couple of days early because I am going to be traveling on his birthday. We had the Reagens over for dinner, and the usual birthday festivities.

Race Day

Elliot’s 6th grade class.

It was Race Day today at Elliot’s school. All of the school kids do fun-runs of various lengths, as a fundraiser. Elliot ran a 5k and then helped his kindergarten buddy with his race.

Elliot plays the saxophone

Now that Elliot is in the 6th grade, and we live a normal existence, he is joining the band. He decided to play the saxophone. He sounds great from the start and already has a smooth transition between notes. One of the great things about being home is enjoying the kids practicing their instruments.

Egg Adventures

For breakfast this morning, we had eggs fresh from the chicken.

In a separate incident, Elliot was carrying a chicken and it ejected a soft egg, mostly onto his leg. He took it like a pro.
